How to photograph buildings
(for submission to us)

Face-on photos which have as little distortion as possible (i.e. not rotated, at an angle or bowed from lens distortion).  Stand back as far as you can and zoom into the wall you want to photo. Try also to avoid obscurities such as cars and lens flare from bright sunshine. Edge-on photos that give us an idea of features on the walls.  These are important in knowing how to put  your model together. If there are obstacles in the way such as trees or other buildings, try to take photos that will show
These photos will be used to texture your model and we may have to charge extra if the textures need a lot of work! us as much information as possible behind these obstacles.

Other points on photography

  • An overcast day is the best day for photographing your building.
  • Make sure you take photos all around the perimeter of your building, if possible.
  • Take the largest picture you can of the wall you're photographing (this will also help you level the picture with the bottom and top of the frame)
  • Make sure there's a photo with the roof in it - so we know how to texture the roof.
  • Send us photos that are no larger than 800x600 in size.

The more information you can provide for all the walls of your building, the better; even if they don't have many features.
